Abbot Venerable Bunthon Say

Ven. Bunthon Say is one of our most dedicated abbot. He joined us in 2022, for a lifelong appointment.

Born in Krang Lhong Village, Cambodia, Bunthon brings a wealth of experience and leadership. With a Bachelor of Arts in Buddhist studies from the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka and a Master of Arts from the University of Kelaniya, he offers deep spiritual and intellectual guidance.

His training in management and international relations provide him with the administrative expertise and global perspective necessary to effectively lead the temple’s daily operations.

Deeply connected to his Cambodian roots, Ven. Bunthon is committed to fostering harmony, preserving tradition, and engaging with the community to ensure the temple thrives as a center of learning and spiritual growth.

Temple Events & Calendar

  • Maha Visakha Puja (Buddha Day) 2025 is a special 3-day event honoring the birth, enlightenment, and nirvana of the Buddha. This sacred occasion will take place from Friday, May 23rd, to Sunday, May 25th, at Wat Buddhasasanarangsey.

  • Meakha Bochea Day (Sangha Day) is in February. It is the commemoration of the meeting between the Buddha and his 1,250 disciples, the creation of an ideal and exemplary community.

  • Khmer New Year is in April, a 3 day community celebration with blessings, traditional games, and cultural activities.

  • Bonn Chol Vossa (Beginning of Buddhist Lent) in July marks the start of the three-month monk retreat during the rainy season.

  • Pchum Ben (Ancestor’s Day) in September/October is 15-day festival to honor ancestors with offerings and prayers.

  • Bonn Kathen (End of Buddhist Lent) in October celebrates the end of the retreat with almsgiving and blessings.

  • Year-round:

    - Temple Anniversary, celebrates the temple’s founding with blessings and cultural activities.

    - Meditation Retreats are focused sessions on mindfulness, meditation, and spiritual growth.

    - Cultural and Educational Workshops on Khmer language, traditional arts, and Buddhist teachings. (Please contact us if you want to volunteer to teach Khmer classes)
